JC H2 Maths is a demanding and challenging subject but can be an extremely rewarding one if you are prepared to put in the time and effort.

Studying JC H2 Maths has wide applications in industry, business, finance, science, technology and many others. Maths qualifications can help you towards a career in these areas. It is also a useful support for many University courses which increasingly can involve statistics modules.


Pedagogical tools

At EduCHAMPS, JC H2 Maths tuition lessons are designed such that all varieties of questions in each topic will be covered extensively. This will ensure that students have the greatest exposure to different kinds of questions and the various strategies to be employed in answering them, as suitably applied to each topic. Summarised revision notes will be provided for each topic which will help students recap and understand the key points of each chapter.

Common misconceptions and errors will be discussed and elaborated in the lessons, with actual feedback from Cambridge to help students to understand what to look out for and why they are erroneous. This is achieved in part through specially designed sessions where students are trained to look out for likely mistakes made in examinations and how to rectify them. Being able to recognise an error made and correcting it during the examinations makes the difference between scoring an A and B. Timed tests will be conducted at various intervals to help train students in speed and accuracy.

Big problematic chapters such as Vectors and Complex numbers are broken down into easy to understand sections with specialised strategies devised to tackle the questions. Our programme also allows students to connect all the topics covered in the H2 Mathematics syllabus together. Students can better appreciate and apply the concepts learned in one topic to another when they see how they are all linked and not view each topic as a separate entity.

In the course of our programme, we employ the use of various games to make learning Mathematics interactive and also train students to think on their feet, adding a multi-media element to enhance the learning experience.

The Course

There will be two 3-hour papers, each carrying 50% of the total mark, and each marked out of 100, as follows:

Paper 1 (3 hours) – A paper consisting of about 10 to 12 questions of different lengths and marks based on the Pure Mathematics section of the syllabus. Candidates will be expected to answer ALL questions.

Paper 2 (3 hours) – A paper consisting of 2 sections, Sections A and B.
Section A (Pure Mathematics – 40 marks) will consist of about 3 – 4 questions of different lengths and marks based on the Pure Mathematics section of the syllabus.
Section B (Statistics – 60 marks) will consist of about 6 – 8 questions of different lengths and marks based on the Statistics section of the syllabus.

Candidates will be expected to answer ALL questions.
